In the early 1930s, Kim, Ki-Rim criticized the modern snobbism through the primitivism, but he transformed his world of writing influenced by the European writers against Fascism, Through the controversial debates on technicalism, that way of writing moved to his totalitarian poetics. But his totalitarian--active embracing for the real world-- poetics couldn't realize in the colonial situations. That made him do the exhaustive groping from the mid-1930s.
Kim, Ki-Rim's poems and verses in 1939 showed the appreciable despair. It was the response for the changes of many writers who turned into the pro-Japanese after the triumph of war. Koo, Mo-ryong provides Kim as a pro-Japanese writer at that period, for Kim showed the influence of Miki Kiyoshi, but it is the unfounded allegation in various aspects. Kim didn't write anymore after publishing "Heart-broken Writing for Orient" in the last volume of Writing in April 1941, and returned to his home. His last work, "Heart-broken Writing," showed the firm ground of his consciousness for the Orient with his other poem "The Mountain." And they also showed the possibilities of choosing silence as a way against those oppressive era.
