영문 초록

As one of pivotal thinkers in the postmodern era, Gilles Deleuze introduces us into a very unique approach to language and literature. His theory of language and literature stems from his philosophy of event and becoming, whose uniqueness is such that we can dubbed it an adjective that bears his name. This paper explores characteristics and attributes of Deleuzian language and literature. What is unique about Deleuzian language is that it focuses on becoming, not being. Plato distinguishes between two languages: one designating the pauses and rests which receive the action of Idea, the other expressing the movements or rebel becoming, i.e. languages of being and becoming. Whereas Plato hopes to keep beings from becomings by containing the latter within its own sphere, Deleuze tries to reveal that the language of becoming is not separate from that of being but the one subsists or inheres in the other as a potential. Similarly, Deleuzian literature opens itself to becoming by becoming-minor. Proust said that great literature opens up a kind of foreign language within the language in which it is written. This foreign language is not another language but rather the becoming-minor of language itself. A minor literature is not necessarily a literature written in a minor or marginalized language; for Deleuze, the term "minor" does not refer to specific literatures but rather to the revolutionary conditions for every literature.
