국문 초록

The purpose of this study is to enhance the status and role of translators in an era where the advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) makes it no longer possible to disregard machine translation. This study seeks to reaffirm the status of translators and to explore machine translation and human translators as central themes. The aim is to reflect on the future role and standing of translators and to prepare for their evolving position in the field. This paper reconsiders the fact that translators who cultivate and demonstrate creative imagination are indeed true professionals.

영문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 인공지능이 발전함에 따라 기계 번역을 더 이상 외면할 수 없는 시대로 접어들고 있음을 고려하여, 이 시대 번역가의 위상과 역할을 제고하는 데 있다. 본 연구를 통해 인공지능의 발전으로 인간이 위협받고 있는 이 시대에 번역가의 위상을 제고하고, 인공지능 발전의 산물인 기계 번역과 인간 번역가를 번역 주제로 논의하여 미래의 번역가 위상을 생각하고 역할과 입지를 준비하는 것에 의미가 있다. 인공지능이 인간을 대체할 수 있다고는 하지만, 전적으로 인간에게 의존한다고 보기는 어렵다. 본 논문은 이러한 창의적인 상상력을 계발하고 발휘하는 번역가가 전문가라는 사실을 다시 한번 생각한다.
