국문 초록

Correcting canine-lateral incisor transposition presents challenges due to the risk of root resorption. To avoid this, lingual movement of the lateral incisor is needed. A 13-year-old female patient presented with the chief complaint of impaction of the maxillary left canine. The maxillary left canine was transposed and impacted, with the maxillary left deciduous canine still present. The permanent canine’s crown was positioned mesiobuccally to the maxillary left lateral incisor. Initially, the deciduous canine was extracted, followed by surgical exposure of the impacted canine. A distally tipped simple-tube was bonded to the impacted canine, and a round NiTi wire segment was placed on this simple-tube and the hole of the mini-implant placed mesial to the maxillary left first premolar to induce distal root movement. To separate the lateral incisor root and the newly exposed canine crown, a ligature wire was tightened between a labial button on the lateral incisor and a lingual tube on the canine. This facilitated lingual movement of the lateral incisor root along with intrusion. During the finishing phase using simple-tubes, a 0.018 × 0.025-inch NiTi archwire was placed to the rectangular tubes bonded on the maxillary left lateral incisor and canine to control torque. This approach achieved buccal root torque for the lateral incisor and lingual root torque for the canine, resulting in normal inclinations of both teeth. This case effectively resolved canine-lateral incisor transposition without root interference by employing lingual movement of the lateral incisor. (Clin J Korean Assoc Orthod 2024;14(4):270-278)
