영문 초록

This study was conducted to evaluate changes of social phobic symptoms depending on the change of time. The authors examined the patients who visited Kangbuk Samsung Hospital, Seoul, Korea and were diagnosed as social phobia during 1982 - 1993. We classified the patients during 1982 -1983 as early 80s group and the patients during 1992 - 1993 as early 90’s group. We compared the social phobic symptoms, age of onset, sex ratio, and subtypes(three subtypes ； simple type, type of idea of harming others, and borderline type) by the group. The results were as follows ； 1) Annual social phobics visited Kangbuk Samsung Hospital did not show any significant differences in number across years. We considered the decreasing and increasing factors affecting on prevalence of social phobia. The decreasing factors were supposed to be change of interpersonal relationship in traditional Confuciasnism and extention of individualism. The increasing factors were shame of being defeated in competition and disturbances in interpersonal relationship according to the urbanization process. 2) The two groups did not show significant differences in sex ratio. But female patients is expected to be increased because of women’s extensive paticipation in society and distortion of sex role. 3) The age of onset was not significantly different between the two groups. 4) The composition of subtypes between the two groups was significantly different(p
