영문 초록

In order to study the developmental trend of ego identity in schizophrenic patients, Dignan’s modified ego idenity scales were administered to 56 schizophrenic patients and 84 healthy subjects. The scores were analyzed as to age group, onset of illness, duration of illness, and patient’s future prospect. The results were as follows: 1. The scores of ego identity in schizophrenics werelower than those of healthy subjects. 2. The scores of ego identity in healthy subjects; increased significantly with age, but those of schizophrenics did not. 3. The scores of ego identity in schizophrenics were lower in the early onset group than those of late onset group. No consistent relationship was found: between the scores of ego indenty and duration of illness. 4. The scores of ego identity in both of schizophrenics and healthy subjects were higher in the optimistic future prospect group than those ofpessimistic group.
