초급 일본인 한국어 학습자의 거절 화행 실현 양상

국문 초록

본 연구는 한국인과 일본인의 거절 화행 실현에 차이가 있는지 살피고, 초급 학습자를 대상으로 거절 화행을 교육할 때 고려할 점을 알아보는 데 목적이 있다. 다수의 한국어 초급 교재에서 거절 화행은 형태ㆍ통사적 차원에서 제시하는 데 머물러 있으나, 초급 학습자에게도 화행교육이 필요하다. 이에 DCT를 통해 학습자와 모어 화자의 발화를 수집해 상황별로 거절 전략을 분석하고, 집단 간 차이를 알아보았다. 그결과, 거절 화행 실현 시 한국인과 일본인 간 집단 간 차이는 크지 않았으나, 학습자 집단은 ‘직접 거절하기’ 전략을 가장 많이 사용하는 경향을 보였다. 이는 모어의 영향으로 볼 수 있으나, 학습자는 표현도 직접적으로 사용하는 경향이 있어, 부드럽게 거절할 수 있도록 적절한 거절 전략과 표현을 교수할 필요성이 있음을 확인했다. 따라서 거절의강도를 완화시킬 수 있는 전략과 표현이 초급 수준의 학습 내용에도포함될 필요가 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

This study investigates differences in refusal speech act patterns between Korean and Japanese learners of Korean and identifies considerations for teaching refusal strategies to beginning-level learners. Although many beginning-level Korean textbooks present refusal speech acts primarily at the morphological and syntactic levels, there remains a need for pragmatic instruction even at the novice stage. Data were collected via a “Discourse Completion Task” to analyze refusal strategies used by learners and native speakers in selected situations. The results indicated that while differences between Korean and Japanese learners of Korean were minimal, beginning-level learners primarily relied on direct refusal strategies. Although this tendency may reflect the influence of their native language, learners also expressed refusals directly, confirming the need for providing suitable refusal strategies and expressions that allow for softer refusals. This study emphasizes the importance of integrating strategies that mitigate the intensity of refusals into beginning-level Korean language instruction.
