국문 초록

본 연구는 청소년기 멘티였던 대학생의 문화예술동아리 진로지원 멘토 경험의 의미가 어떠한지 이해하기 위하여 당사자들의 목소리에 기반을 두어 심층 조사하였다. 연구질문 탐구를 위한 분석방법으로는 질적사례연구를 선택했으며, 연구참여자를 섭외하고자 청소년 시기부터 대학교 단계에 이르기까지 청소년 문화예술동아리에서 진행한 멘토링 프로그램에 장기간 멘티와 멘토로 모두 관여한 적이 있는 대학생들과 접촉하였다. 구체적인 연구참여자 선정 기준을 적용하여 총 6명을 최종적으로 확정했고, 이들과 개별 및 집단면담을실시해서 주된 자료를 수집했다. 연구주제를 깊이 있게 탐구할 목적에서 확보한 자료에 대해 일차적으로는사례 내 분석을, 이차적으로는 사례 간 분석을 진행하였다. 특히 사례 간 분석에 따르면, 연구참여자들은 ‘내멘티들처럼 나 역시도 멘토 따라 그렸던 지난날의 문화예술 꿈의 길’, ‘대학생 멘토 임무에 충실하며 다져가는 문화예술가의 기틀’, ‘호칭은 달라도 문화예술이란 같은 곳 향해가는 멘티와 멘토’의 세 가지 상위범주를토대로 당사자로서의 인식과 경험을 묘사했음이 밝혀졌다. 이는 과거 멘티로서의 경험, 현재 멘토로서의 경험, 멘토링 참여를 포함한 멘티와 멘토 관계에 대한 것이었다. 최종적으로는 ‘멘티부터 멘토까지 내공 다져엮어가는 문화예술가 될 역량’과 같은 중심주제가 확인되었다. 이러한 발견점에 기반을 두어, 예비 문화예술가들이 청소년기부터 대학생 시기에 걸쳐 멘토링 프로그램과 더불어 지속적으로 진로발달을 이룰 방안의 모색을 비롯하여 관련 분야 멘토 역할을 수월하게 수행할 방편 등에 관해 제언했다.

영문 초록

This study made an in-depth inquiry based on the participants’ voices to understand the meaningfulness of college students’ experiences as career support mentors in culture and arts clubs, who were mentees in adolescence. A qualitative case study was carried out to explore the research questions, and college students who had been involved in the mentoring program of a youth culture and arts club for a long period as both mentees and mentors from adolescence to college level were contacted to recruit participants. A total of six participants were selected by applying specific participant selection criteria, and individual and group interviews were conducted to collect the main data. A within-case analysis and a cross-case analysis of the data were performed to explore the research topic in depth. In particular, the cross-case analysis revealed that the participants described their perceptions and experiences based on three overarching categories: ‘ the path of dreams of culture and arts I once drew, just like my mentees, following my mentor,’ ‘cultivating solid cultural and artistic skills as a college student mentor, staying true to the mentor mission,’ ‘mentees and mentors heading towards the same direction in culture and arts, despite different titles.’ Those were about past experiences as mentees, current experiences as mentors, and the mentor-mentee relationship including their participation in mentoring. In the end, a central theme was identified: ‘the capability to be a cultural artist who weaves from mentee to mentor.’ Suggestions were made regarding ways to explore mentoring programs and continuous career development for aspiring cultural artists from adolescence to university years, as well as facilitating the role of mentors in the relevant field based on these findings.
