영문 초록

Delayed pneumoventricle is a rare complication after ventriculo-peritoneal(v-p) shunt insertion. We report our experience with a 45-year-old male with obstructive hydrocephalus presented with gait disturbance, memory impairment and urinary incontinence for 7 years. He had a mass lesion at the midbrain and received v-p shunt. Three months later, the patient developed pneumocephalus along with the entire ventricle. Bony defect was detected at left petrosal bone using thin sliced brain computed tomography (CT). Communication was found from the bony dehiscent site through temporal horn of lateral ventricle. After repair of the dural defect, pneumoventricle was totally subsided. Early identification of bone defect is the key to prevent this kind of complication.
