국문 초록

본 연구는 헌법적 명령인 평화적 통일 과업 완수는 체계 통합 이후의 완전한 사회 통합까지 염두에 두고 준비되어야 한다는 문제의식에 기초하여, 그 과정에 민주시민교육이 어떠한 의미와 중요성을 가지는 지에 대하여 살펴보고, 향후 통일 과업 완수를 위한 민주시민교육의 방향성이 어떻게 설정되어야 하는지에 대하여 함께 고민해보기 위하여 작성된 것임을 밝혀둔다. 이를 위하여 본 연구에서는 우선, 민주시민교육과 통일, 통일교육의 상관관계에 대하여 살펴봄으로써 민주시민교육이 통일 완성의 필요조건임을 확인해보고자 한다. 아울러 독일은 민주시민교육을 어떻게 준비하고 시행해 왔는지, 특히 보이텔스바흐 협약이 교육적으로 어떻게 구체화되어 있는지를 살펴본 후, 통일 교육의 관점에서 현행 민주시민교육의 실태와 문제점을 분석하기로 한다. 그리고 문제해결을 위한 첫 출발로서 선행되어야 할 민주시민교육의 방향 설정에 대하여 제언코자 한다.

영문 초록

This study starts on the premise that the ultimate goal of unification of the Korean peninsula is social integration. On the premise, this study will take a look at the meaning and importance of democratic civic education in achieving social integration, the ultimate goal of unification. Meanwhile, the aim of this study is to examine how the direction of democratic civic education in our unification education should be established. To this end, first, this paper examines the relationship between democratic civic education, unification, and unification education. The case of democratic civic education and unification education in Germany will be reviewed. And this study will analyze the implications of the German case for us. Based on this review, this study proposes a methodology for integrating the values of the German Beutelsbacher consensus(Konsens) into the field of our unification education.
