영문 초록

Among the specific Engel curve systems which satisfy the adding-up condition, there are three well-known systems, i.e., the linear Engel curve system, the Working-Leser Engel curve system, and the indirect addilog Engel curve system. These three systems have attracted a good deal of attention in empirical studies on household expenditure behavior. This paper analyses economic properties of total expenditure elasticities and curve shapes of the above three alternative systems.
