미래학 50년, 국제학술지 논문 게재 현황과 시사점

국문 초록

1968년 창간된 「Futures」에 처음 미래학 논문이 게재된 후 지난 50년 간, 미래학 3대 국제학술지(SCI)의 게재 및 인용 현황을 계량서지학적 방법을 통해 분석했다. 이를 통해 국제적인 미래학 연구동향을 다양한 측면에서 살펴봄으로써, 최근 다시 활기를 띠고 있는 국내 미래학 연구에 다섯 가지 학술적 시사점을 제시할 수 있었다. 첫째, 최근 10년 사이에 국제적으로는 미래학 논문이 양적·질적으로 급격한 성장세에 있었으나 한국은 상대적으로 저조했다. 둘째, 50년 간 미국과 영국이 미래학을 선도해 왔으나 최근 10년 사이에는 북유럽과 아시아 국가들의 약진이 있었다. 셋째, 국제적인 미래학선도 기관에는 네델란드 소재 대학이 다수를 차지하였으며, 핀란드와 대만 소재 대학이 10위권에 포함되어 앞으로 다양한 국가 및 기관이 미래학을 이끌어 갈 것으로 예상된다. 넷째, 문서유형을 기준으로 보면 국제적으로 다양한 학술교류를 확인할 수 있으나, 한국은 학술논문(article) 게재가 대부분으로 매우 제한적인 형태의 교류를 하고 있다. 다섯째, 한국의 미래학은 국제학술지에 지속적으로 논문을 게재해 왔고 2014년부터는 상위 1% 고피인용 논문을 게재하는 등 향후 밝은 미래가 예상된다.

영문 초록

Fifty years have passed since the paper was published in Futures in 1968. The publishing and quoting of the three major international journals of futurology were analyzed through a bibliometrics method. By looking at trends in international futures studies from various aspects, this was able to present five academic implications for the recently revived study of domestic futures studies. First, research papers on futurology have been growing rapidly both in quantity and quality in the last decade, but Korea has been relatively low. Second, the United States and Britain have been leading the way in futurology for 50 years, but in recent decades, there have been advances in northern Europe and Asian countries. Third, the world s leading institutions were dominated by universities in the Netherlands and those in Finland and Taiwan in the top 10. So it is expected that various countries and institutions will lead futures studies. Fourth, based on document types, a variety of international academic ex-changes can be found. But, Korea has a very limited type of exchange as most publications are articles. Fifth, South Korea has consistently published its papers in the International Journals of Futurology and recently published the top 1% highly quoted papers from 2014. So it is expected that futurology in the South Korea will be grown up in the near future.
