팝아트를 應用한 바디페인팅 硏究 -미국의 팝아트작가를중심으로-

국문 초록

인류의 태동과 함께 시작됐던 바디아트는 고대 원시사회에서부터 문명이 극도로 발달 한 현대사회에 이르기 까지 인간의 본능적, 사회적 표현 욕구를 충족시키기 위해 다양한 방법을 통해 표현되고 있다. 바디 아트는 상흔, 문신, 채색, 제거, 변형 등을 통한 일시적 혹은 영구적 신체 장식방법으로 인간의 신체에 시각적으로 표현할 수 있는 모든 방법을 동원하여 이미지를 형상화 하는 의식화된 행위이자 표현의 양식이며 예술과 인간이 조화 된 독창적 예술이라 할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 바디페인팅을 중심으로 연구를 진행하였으며 현대 소비주의 사회와 기계복제 시대의 산물로 그 미술사적 가치와 위상에 대하여 끊임없이 논의가 되어 왔던 팝 아트, 그중에서도 미국의 팝아트작가의 작품을 응용하여 바디페인팅에 접목하였다. 본 연구를 통해 얻은 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 팝아트를 응용한 바디페인팅은 팝아트라는 대중적인 예술을 보다 친근감 있도록 일반인과 이어주는 매개체가 될 수 있다. 둘째, 팝아트와 바디페인팅이 결합하는 본 연구를 통해 현대미술 접목이 가능한 한층 더 높은 차원의 일러스트레이션과 작품을 얻게 되었다. 셋째, 바디페인팅에 현대미술을 접목함으로써 이를 통해 학문적 연구 가치가 높은 제3 의 연구로 이어질 수 있음을 확인 하였다. 넷째, 팝아트를 응용하여 인체에 구성한 결과 현대적 조형감각과 선 감각이 표출되었으며, 여러 각도로 응용하여 다양한 소재의 메이크업과 흥미로운 표현 방법으로 인한 새로운 창작의 가능성을 부여 하였다. 마지막으로 팝아트는 개방 과 ‘비개성’으로 집약된다. 이미지의 대중화, 형상의 복제, 표현 기법의 보편화 등에 의해 예술을 개인적인 것에서 대중적인 것으로 개방시킨다는 특징이 있다. 본 연구에서는 팝아트의 특징을 살려서 작업했으며 그 결과 우리주변에서 흔히 접 할 수 있는 상표, 만화 등이 바디페인팅의 소재로 등장함으로써 바디페인팅의 대중 화를 기대해 본다.

영문 초록

Body art which started at the very beginning of the world has used various expression methods to satisfy human beings instinctive and social desires from ancient times to the present day. Body art, a temporary or permanent method of decorating human body through scar, tattoo, coloring, and removal, and deformation, is both a ritualized behavior and a mode of expression that creates images on human body using every possible visual expression methods. It is one of creative art forms that make harmony with human beings. Therefore this study integrated body painting, a form of boy art, with American pop art, the product of modern consumer culture in the machine reproduction era, whose value and status in art history has been ceaselessly discussed. The following results were obtained in the study. First, body painting combined with pop art can make normal people enjoy pop art more easily. Second, the combination of pop art and body painting produced good art works including high level illustration works. Third, it was found that the integration of body painting and contemporary arts can lead to the third research which is academically highly valued. Fourth, the application of pop art to body painting led to the expression of senses of modern formation and lines. In addition, various make up materials and interesting expression methods generated by the integration of body painting and pop art provided a possibility to create new style art works. Lastly, the characteristics of pap art can be explained by two words, openness and non-individuality . It changed art from individual expression into expression shared by the public though the popularity of image, reproduction of shape, and universalized expression methods. In this study, efforts were made to express the characteristics of pop art. As a result, what can be easily found in daily life, such as trademark and cartoon, was used as a subject matter for body painting in the expectation of the popularity of body painting.
