영문 초록

In addition to canonical passive construction, English allows the so-called pseudo-passive (or prepositional passive) in which the prepositional object of a transitive verb corresponds to the passive subject. This prepositional passive constructions display intriguing properties which can be hardly predicted from any syntactic or semantic constraints. This paper looks into how each grammatical component interacts in generating the English pseudo-passive construction.
