영문 초록

A growing body of research examines the increased presence of women in Congress has an impact in women's issues related to children and family. The existing literature also provides compelling evidence that women representatives make a difference in feminist issues. However, it is neither asked nor studied if they have a different orientation of ideological perspectives in key policy areas. In order to answer the question, this paper analyzed hew women representatives in the 110th House vote differently than man in key policy issues chosen CQ editors. As a result of analyses, it is found that party rather than gender plays an important role for key issue voting. More importantly, it is also found that women representatives of Democratic party voted for key policies in more liberal perspectives, compared to Republican representatives and to male Democrats. Is suggests women's presence in Congress contributes potentially to reshape key government agenda more liberal and more peaceful perspectives.
