1991년 경제 개혁과 경제 자유화 이후에 태어난 개혁 이후 세대(Post-Reform Generation)의 부상과 힌두 민족주의와 정치의 결합 등으로 인도는 인문, 사회, 문화적 공간에서 대전환을 경험하며‘새로운 인도(New India)’로 변모하고 있다. 이러한 배경 속에서 한국외국어대학교 인도연구소 HK+사업단은 ‘인도의 대전환: 인도학의 한국적 재해석’이라는 주제로 2017년 11월부터 2024년 10월까지 한국연구재단 인문한국플러스 사업을 수행하였다.
이 책은 한국외국어대학교 인도연구소 HK+사업을 총망라하기 위해 2024년 5월 16일부터 17일까지 한국외국어대학교에서 열린 국제학술대회 ‘인도의 대전환: 회고와 전망’에서 발표된 연구 내용을 담고 있다.
본 책은 인문학과 사회과학 전반에 걸쳐‘인도의 대전환’을 종교와 철학, 언어와 문학, 역사, 사회와 문화, 정치경제 등의 분야에서 심도 있게 탐구하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 국내외 인도학 연구자들이‘인도의 대전환’이라는 주제를 바탕으로 학제 간 연구를 진행한 결과물이 수록되었다.
이 책은 국내외 인도학 연구의 중요한 자료로 활용할 수 있는 높은 가치를 지니며, 인도학에 관심이 있는 학생, 학자, 정책 전문가들에게 유익한 자료가 될 것이다.
