Witness, a squirrel happily living on the food waste in Manhattan, learns that the world is being threatened by the immense trash. (Refer to Book 2 of the environmental picture book series- New York’s Fall) Witness also learns that his cousins in Europe, the red squirrels, are in danger of becoming extinct. In order to experience Paris, a city that tries to solve environmental problems, and inquire after his endangered cousins, Witness leaves for Paris. When Witness arrives in Paris, he notices that most of the trash cans do not have food waste. Although Witness is initially frustrated that he has nothing to eat, he also becomes hopeful at the idea that this is a clean environment with no trash. Meanwhile, Witness meets and gets some food from a young boy named Hugo and Hugo’s dog Ciel who both live in Paris. Witness asks Hugo and Ciel about the efforts Paris has made for its environment and whether Paris has changed according to these efforts. Together with Hugo and Ciel, who are unable to answer Witness’s questions, Witness goes on to the Orsay Museum and the Eiffel Tower for answers.

ARK STATION’s environmental series realistically portrays the environmental problems that we and our neighboring countries face and the actions taken against these environmental problems. This is unlike other environmental books that only emphasize theoretical and informational aspects of solving environmental problems. The purpose is not to simply explain the problematic situation but to convey the hopeful message that when readers make an effort to protect our environment, the world can change.
Among ARK STATION’s environmental picture book series, Witness’ Goes to Paris, a book set in Paris during summer, is a story where the characters learn of the efforts Paris has made against the environmental problems as they search for the reasons the city could change. Although environmental problems and climate change are serious issues globally, there are few cities that actually make a decision and make an effort to solve these environmental problems. Through the book, we learn about the Paris Climate Agreement along with France’s efforts to eliminate food wrappings and the reason why environmentally friendly vehicles are becoming the majority. Anyone, anywhere in the world, can try to improve the environmental problems. What kind of efforts must we make to pass on a better future for the next generation? Witness’ Goes to Paris was written with the hopes that we can first learn from Paris’ changes and efforts.

She lives in Philadelphia, grew up in Israel, and was born in South Korea. 
She studied Childhood Education at New York University and today is a mom to a sweet little girl and a curious baby boy. She loves books and pictures, and firmly believes that everybody has the power to change the world, with one “Hello” at a time.

Vincent studied drawing and printmaking at Pratt Institute in New York. After her studies, she taught art to teachers and students at a local elementary school in Tanzania, Africa. Today she continues her career as an artist in major cities, including Seoul, Paris, and London. Her passion for the environment naturally grew as she traveled and lived around the world. She wishes to share the beauty of the world through her picture books, with stories that remain in your heart long after you close the book.
