Summary
Sarah is a special girl. She speaks Hindustani, French, and English, has read almost all of her books in her father's library, and uses her fantasy to imagine herself as a princess. Her father, a captain in the army, sends her to a boarding school in London, where Sarah makes friends with her and wins the heart of her headmistress, Miss Minchin, with her intelligence (and her fortune). But when news arrives of Sarah's father's death and the loss of her fortune, Miss Minchin makes Sarah her servant and banishes her to her rat-infested attic.

In 1854, after the death of her father, who was a hardware store owner, in 1865 she moved to Tennessee, USA, where she worked as a writer to earn her living. In 1868 she began publishing her own articles in her women's and fashion magazines. She was recognized as a writer when her writings were published by editors who recognized his talent.
Her major works include The Little Princess in 1886, The Little Princess in 1888, and The Secret Garden in 1909. His fairy tales have the advantage of being warm and full of emotion, but he was also embroiled in controversy for telling absurd stories, such as a boy living an ordinary life accidentally discovering that he is an aristocrat. In addition, there are 27 fairy tales, 17 novels, and 3 plays.
