A Korean food trip through comics!

This comic book tells the story of the protagonists exploring Korean food as they travel to every corner of Korea to taste delicious local dishes and learn about the origins of each one.

We introduce 60 Korean dishes ranging from meals with grilled pork belly (samgyeopsal), marinated thin-sliced beef (bulgogi), rice mixed with vegetables (bibimbap), and desserts, such as shaved ice with sweet red beans (patbingsu), delectable pancakes filled with seeds (ssiat hotteok), and sweet rice punch (sikhye). Each chapter delves into the flavors of each dish and how to savor them. An illustrated map is also included to show readers the origins of each meal, and the mouthwatering food illustrations increase expectations for the featured Korean food.

A thorough and comprehensible language was used to narrate the origins of each dish. Moreover, the country’s economy, climate, and historical events affect the making of its food. As such, knowing the origins of Korean food also means learning about Korean society at a specific time.

MOON EUN-JOO studied animation at the School of Film, TV & Multimedia of the Korea National University of Arts, whereshe produced the short cartoon The Fox Sister and short animated film Lion Mask.After graduating, Moon illustrated the Korean Folktale Cartoon and Yum Yum Korean Food Story series at Studio Dolgoji and continues to showcase artworks through her website and YouTube channel.

KWAK KI-HYUK studied animation at the School of Film, TV & Multimedia of the Korea National University of Arts and received several awards both locally and internationally for the short animated films Muscle Man andWrestler.After graduating, he worked in animation planning and directing at Robot Taekwon V. Currently, he makes cartoons and animated films for Studio Dolgoji.Kwak also wrote and illustrated the Korean Folktale Cartoon and Yum Yum Korean Food Story series. Since 2009, he has been teaching cartoon and animation at the Korea National University of Arts, Kyonggi University, and Daegu University.
