Wallace West (1900-1980) was an American science fiction writer who began his literary career in 1927 with the publication of "Loup-Garou" in Weird Tales. The majority of his work consisted of short fiction published prior to the 1960s, while his post-World War II novels were mostly reworkings of his pre-war short stories. West worked as a lawyer, public relations man, and pollution-control expert while writing and his notable works include "Lords of Atlantis" and "The Bird of Time." He was also a pioneer in addressing pollution and other negative effects of progress as themes in science fiction literature.
