Arthur Conan Doyle (1859–1930) was a Scottish author and physician, best known as the creator of Sherlock Holmes and a pioneer of modern detective fiction. He debuted in 1887 with A Study in Scarlet, and the Holmes series, including The Hound of the Baskervilles, gained worldwide acclaim. Beyond detective stories, Doyle also wrote science fiction, historical novels, and works exploring supernatural themes. Though trained as a physician, he transitioned to a full-time writing career following his literary success. In his later years, he developed a strong interest in spiritualism and the supernatural, actively promoting these topics.
