이 책은 박시랑 시인이 25년 동안 쓴 시들 중에서 49편의 시를 영어시집으로 발간한 것이다.

Though this is an English poetry collection, concern may outweigh than hope when encountering readers who have different language structures, concepts, and ways of thinking. I draft this preface with courage but at times I even regret translating these poems into English.
For example, the customs of the patriarchal society is not to be easily understood by today’s youngsters. However, the majority of the older generation grew up in the customs, which nourished the poet’s imagination.
In addition, the Galaxy or the Milky Way means a wide silver water or a silver water river; so, the story of the legend will be different depending on each meaning. Furthermore, we can’t but hesitate as whether the east of the Galaxy in the Far East could also be the east of it in Europe, America, or Oceania.
On the other hand, I hope that through the poems in this book, readers will discover new ways of embracing nature, objects, and attitudes. I hope a constant smile will stay on the faces of the readers while reading this book. I selected 49 poems to make this poetry collection among the poems I have written during the last 25 years.

저자(글) Sirang Bak(박시랑)

Sirang Bak was born in Tongyeong, Gyeongsangnam-do Province and was educated at DongA University in Busan, Republic of Korea.
He debuted as the recipient of the Literature-Vatang Newcomer Award in 2005 and also the recipient of the awards including the JoongAng Ilbo Newspaper Traditional Poem Contest, the Gwangmyeong New Writer Literature Award (Poetry Category) and the Siheung Literature Award. He also won several other literary awards and recognitions.
Mr Bak has published poetry collections including The Fluttering Duck and Joyful Funeral.
