CAN은 Controller Area Network이란 뜻으로 자동차 ECU 간 통신을 위한 네트워크로 개발되었으며, 그 성능과 안정성을 인정받아 자동차 분야 외에도 각 분야의 자동화 제어 분야, 각종 기계, 의료, 항공, 로봇 등 다양한 분야에서 사용되고 있다. 1991년에 CAN 2.0 사양이 발표된 후에도 CAN 프로토콜에 대해서 제대로 정리되어진 책이 없고 여기저기 흩어져 있는 정보들만 돌아다닐 뿐이었으나 'CAN 통신 핸드북'이 나오게 되면서 CAN 통신관련 정보를 한곳에서 찾아볼 수 있게 되었다.
이 책에서는 CAN 통신이 왜 탄생하게 되었고 어떻게 발전해 왔는지, CAN 프로토콜은 어떤 내용을 담고 있는지 그리고 CAN 통신 주변 지식들을 모아 다루고 있다. CAN 프레임을 통해서 어떻게 통신이 이루어 지는지 파악할 수 있도록 각종 그림과 예제로 설명하고 있어 CAN 통신을 제대로 이해하는데 도움을 받을 수 있을 것이다.

작가정보

저자(글) 김기명

정보통신공학과를 졸업하고 반도체설계로 전기전자통신공학부 석사 졸업하였다.
통신장비제조 기업체 연구소에서 통신관련 장비설계 및 반도체(ASIC) 설계를 담당하였다.
