비행형 학교 밖 청소년의 흡연 및 금연 경험

국문 초록

본 연구는 12명의 비행형 학교 밖 청소년을 대상으로 그들의 흡연 및 금연 경험을 심층적으로 이해하고자 시행되었다. 포커스 그룹 인터뷰를 통해 자료수집을 하였으며, 질적 주제 분석 방법을 이용하여 6가지 주제를 도출하였다. ‘흡연을 통한 비행의 입문과 확산’은 비행형 학교 밖 청소년들이 담배를 접하게 되는 과정을 설명하고, ‘흡연을 매개로 한 소속감과 비행 정체성 형성’은 담배가 그들에게 미치는 내적인 의미를 보여준다. ‘흡연과 복합 비행행동의 연계성’은 비행형 학교 밖 청소년들에게 미치는 담배의 부정 적인 영향을 보여주며, ‘흡연을 용인하는 환경 속 무력한 통제’는 그들이 흡연을 지속하는데 어렵지 않은 물리적 환경을 나타낸다. ‘흡연과 스트레스·심리적 불안 간의 자기중독 구조’에서는 비행형 학교 밖 청소년의 미숙한 자기조절의 모습을 보여주며, ‘제도 밖에서의 금연교육 경험과 거부감’은 그들이 경험한 흡연 예방 및 금연 교육에 대한 솔직한 감상을 나타낸다. 본 연구 결과를 고려하여 향후 학교 밖 청소년 대상의 흡연 예방 및 금연 교육 프로그램 기획하고 실행해야 하며, 이는 궁극적으로 우리나라 학교 밖 청소년의 건강을 증진시키는데 기여할 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

This study was conducted to gain an in-depth understanding of the smoking and smoking cessation experiences of 12 delinquent out-of-school adolescents. Data were collected through focus group interviews, and six key themes were identified using qualitative thematic analysis: (1) Initiation and spread of delinquency through smoking, (2) Formation of group belonging and delinquent identity mediated by smoking, (3) Association between smoking and co-occurring delinquent behaviors, (4) Ineffective control within environments permissive of youth smoking, (5) Self-addictive structure between smoking and psychological stress or anxiety, and (6) Resistance to smoking cessation education outside institutional systems. Based on the findings regarding the smoking and cessation experiences of delinquent out-of-school adolescents, it is necessary to design and implement tailored smoking prevention and cessation programs for this population. Such efforts can ultimately contribute to improving the overall health of out-of-school adolescents in South Korea.
