국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 인공지능의 미술 매체적 성격을 조망함으로써 미술교육에서 인공지능을 교육할 때 필요한 관점을 제시하고자 한다. 방법 이를 위해 매체의 의미를 기반으로 과거부터 현재까지 진행된 미술 매체의 변화를 살펴보았다. 미술 매체는 미술 장르를 결정하는 중요한 기준으로, 그 시대적 상황과 분위기를 보여준다. 이러한 미술 매체의 의미에 기반하여 인공지능으로 인한 새로운 미술의 양상과 특징을 질적으로 분석하였다. 결과 분석한 결과 인공지능은 사고의 기술로 작동하는 미술 매체, 새로운 시대의 기술 자율성을 보여주는 미술 매체, 의도성과 임의성이 교차하는 미술 매체, 인간성 회복을 목표하는 미술 매체라는 네 가지 의미를 도출하였다. 결론 따라서 앞으로의 미술교육은 인공지능의 미술 매체적 성격을 토대로 인공지능에 대한 체계적인 교육에 앞장서야 한다.

영문 초록

Objectives This study aims to interpret artificial intelligence as an art medium within the context of art education by analyzing its characteristics through the historical development of art media. Methods To this end, the study first examined the evolution of art media from past to present based on the concept of “medium”. Art media serves as a key criterion for defining artistic genres and reflects the sociocultural context of its time. In alignment with the meaning of art media, the study qualitatively analyzed the forms and characteristics of art generated by artificial intelligence. Results The analysis identified four distinct meanings of artificial intelligence as an art medium: a medium that operates with cognitive skills, a medium that demonstrates technological autonomy in the new era, a medium emerging from the intersection of intention and randomness, and a medium that seeks to restore humanity. Conclusions Accordingly, art education should take a proactive role in implementing systematic instruction on artificial intelligence, grounded in its interpretation as an art medium.
