국문 초록

본 연구는 제조실행시스템(Manufacturing Execution System; MES)이 제조기업의 운영성과에 미치는 영향을 실증분석하였다. 인구 구조 변화에 따른 생산인력 감소와 숙련공 고령화 등의 문제를 극복하기 위해 정보시스템을 활용한 스마트 팩토리 구축은 중요한 대안이 되고 있다. 정부의 스마트공장구축지원사업 중 MES 구축이 가장 많은 부분을 차지하고 있으며, 성공적인 MES의 구축은 스마트공장구축의 견고한 토대가 된다. 그러나 MES에 대한 기존의 연구는 기술적 분석이 주를 이루고 있으며, 경영학 측면의 MES 성공요인에 대한 연구는 미미한 실정이다. 이에 본 연구는 스마트공장구축지원사업의 내용을 포괄적으로 검토하고, MES의 성공요인이 운영성과에 미치는 영향을 파악하고자 한다. 스마트공장구축지원사업에 참여한 178개 기업을 대상으로 실증분석을 수행함으로써 MES의 성공적 구축을 통한 기업성과 향상과 더불어 스마트공장구축지원사업의 방향을 제시하고자 한다. 분석결과, 공급기업의 업종적합성, 현업참여도, 컨설턴트 역량은 모두 운영성과에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었으며, MES 성공요인이 운영성과에 미치는 영향관계에서의 CEO의지의 조절효과도 확인되었다. 본 연구는 현장의 목소리를 반영한 MES의 성공요인을 파악하여 운영성과에 미치는 영향을 실증적으로 분석했다는 점에서 의의를 지닌다. 스마트 팩토리는 기술과 경영이 모두 제 역할을 할 때 그 성공을 거둘 수 있다는 점에서 향후 융합된 연구를 통해 관련 연구를 확대하고자 한다.

영문 초록

This study empirically examines the effect of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) on the operational performance of manufacturing firms. The implementation of smart factories utilizing information systems has emerged as a crucial alternative to address challenges such as workforce reduction and aging skilled workers resulting from demographic changes. While MES implementation represents the largest portion of government-supported smart factory initiatives, successful MES deployment serves as a solid foundation for smart factory development. Existing literature on MES has primarily focused on technical analysis, with limited research addressing field-oriented success factors. Therefore, this study aims to comprehensively examine smart factory implementation support programs and investigate the relationship between MES success factors and operational performance. Through empirical analysis of 178 companies participating in smart factory support projects, this research seeks to suggest strategic directions for smart factory initiatives while demonstrating enhanced corporate performance through successful MES implementation. The significance of this study lies in its empirical analysis of how MES success factors, incorporating shop floor perspectives, influence operational performance. Furthermore, it provides practical implications for the development and implementation of future smart factory-related policies.
