민담 속 어머니 유형 연구

국문 초록

이 논문에서는 우리 민담에 나온 어머니를 대지모신, 조력자, 방해자, 여성, 효의 대상, 타인의 여섯 유형으로 구분했다. 이 유형들은 어머니의 원형을 보여 준다는 데 의의가 있다. 이 원형들이 현재성을 띠고 있는지를 확인하기 위하여 아동문학 작품에 나온 ‘엄마’ 를 분석하였다. ‘방해자’유형을 중심으로『일수의 탄생』과『천하의 말 안 듣 는 개구리』를 살펴보았다. 두 작품 모두 자식의 성장과 독립을 막는 방해자 유형의 어머니라고 할 수 있었다. 이와 같이 두 작품을 통해 방해자 어머니 원형의 현재성을 살펴보고자 하였다. 향후 민담의 다른 어머니 유형들 역시 작품 분석을 통하여 그 현재적의미의 가능성을 검토해볼 필요가 있다.

영문 초록

In this paper, mothers in our folktales were classified into six types: earth mother, helper, disturber, woman, subject of filial piety, and others. These types are meaningful in that they show the prototype of the mother. To confirm whether these archetypes have the present nature, the 'mother' in children's literature works was analyzed. Focusing on the ‘obstructor’ type, The Birth of Ilsoo and The Frog Who Wouldn’t Listen to Heaven and Earth were examined. Both works could be said to be mothers of the type of obstructor that prevents their children’s growth and independence. In this way, it was possible to confirm the presentness of the mother’s original form of the interrupter through the two works. In the future, other types of mothers in folktales also need to examine the possibility of their present meaning through analysis of their works.
