영문 초록

This paper examines patterns of final endings in daily conversation produced by Chinese advanced learners of Korean. In order to identify characteristics of final ending usage, daily conversation of Chinese advanced learners is recorded and analyzed in comparison with daily conversation of native Korean speakers. The result is that the Chinese advanced learners are overusing '-어요' with the overwhelming percentage of 78.4%, although they denote similar percentage in their usage of final endings. In case of the final endings which represent specific sentence types, they are overusing exclamative endings. In aspects of relative honorifics, they are using ‘해요’ type dominantly while the native Korean speakers prefer ‘해’ type. As for colloquial tendency, the Chinese advanced learners are using colloquial final endings in high rates. When the usage patterns and their characteristics are considered, more concerns need to be given to making the learners use various final endings rather than use typical colloquial final endings.
