국문 초록

목적 본 연구의 목적은 ‘어린이 작가되기’ 프로그램이 초등학교 고학년 학생들의 인성 발달에 미치는 영향을 알아보는 것이다. 방법 서울 소재 S 초등학교 6학년 두 개 학급 학생을 대상으로, 각각 실험집단(N=21)과 통제집단(N=23)을 배정하였다. 프로그램을 통한 인성교육의 효과를 알아보기 위해 사전, 사후 검사를 실시하고, 다변량공분산분석(MANCOVA)를 실시하였다. 결과 사전점수를 통제한 상태에서, 다변량공분산분석을 실시한 결과, 다변량 검정 통계치인 Pillai Trace 값과 Wilk’s Lamda 값이 통계적으로 유의하였다. 또한, 자아, 관계, 사회성에 대한 다변량공분산분석 결과와 대부분의 하위 요소에서도 실험집단과 통제집단에 유의한 통계적 차이가 있었고 실험집단의 향상이 확인되었다. 결론 본 연구는 ‘어린이 작가되기’ 프로그램이 초등학교 고학년 학생의 인성 발달에 유의한 효과가 있음을 경험적으로 검증함으로써, 초등학생 글쓰기 교육에 대한 시사점을 도출하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다. 마지막으로 본 연구의 제한점과 추후 연구를 위한 제언을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

Objectives This study aimed to investigate the effect of the “Becoming a Child Writer” program on the character competency development of 6th grade students in elementary school. Methods The subjects were students from two classes in S Elementary School located in Seoul, one class constituted an experimental group (N=21) and the other a control group (N=23). Pre- and post-character assessments were conducted to examine the effectiveness of the program. Results The results of Multivariate Analysis of Covariance (MANCOVA) showed statistically significant differences between the two groups, favoring the experimental group over control group. The students who participated in the “Being a Child Writer” program gained higher scores for the comprehensive and individual character competencies, compared to the students in the control group. Conclusions Students reported that their experiences in the program improved their self-concepts and sense of self-agency. Educational implications of the study results and suggestions for future research are discussed.
