교과-비교과 연계 영어 수업참여 의미에 관한 현상학적 연구

국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 교과-비교과 연계 영어 수업 참여자의 경험을 학습자 관점에서 이해하고 각 개인이 겪은 경험을 토대로 수업참여 경험의 의미를 탐색하고 본질을 규명하는 것이다. 방법 지오르기의 현상학적 연구방법으로 비교과 수업참여 경험이 있는 재학생과 졸업생 8명을 대상으로 반구조화된 심층 인터뷰를 수행하였다. 본 연구 수행을 위한 자료수집은 연구 참여자들에 대한 총체적인 이해를 이해 심층 인터뷰 이외에도 장기간의 참여 관찰과 연구일지, 학습자 노트를 활용하였다. 결과 연구분석 결과 교과-비교과 참여 경험의 특성과 교과-비교과 수업의 특성은 5가지 주제로 도출되었다. 비교과 영어 수업 참여 의미는 ‘특별한 시간’, ‘학습태도 변화’, ‘유대감 향상’ 3가지 주제로 나타났다. 본 연구 결과 비교과 수업참여에 대해 학생들은 수업참여 이상의 가치를 부여한다는 것은 중요한 발견이라고 할 수 있다. 결론 연구 결과에 따라 결과에 따라 학습자 중심의 교과-비교과 연계 수업을 운영하기 위해서는 편안한 학습 환경 조성을 위해 소수정예로 운영하는 것이 중요하다. 또한, 유연한 수업방식을 적용하여 운영할 필요가 있음을 본 연구 결과를 통해 제언해본다.

영문 초록

Objectives This paper aims to understand the lived experience of participants in co-curricular English classes from their perspective and to identify the meaning and the essence of experience in class participation based on each individual s experience. Methods The research method of this study implemented Giorgi s Phenomenological methodology along with a semi-structured in-depth interview. The interview was carried out with eight students and graduates who had experience in engaging in English co-curricular activities. The data collection was conducted in various ways, including in-depth interviews, participant observation for a long period of time, researcher s journal, and learner s notes to gain a holistic understanding of participants. Results The analysis has led to the following result. The characteristics of experience in co-curriculum engagement and the characteristics of the co-curriculum class itself were drawn five essential themes each. The three different vital themes found in the meaning of involvement in co-curricular class are as follows; ‘special time,’ ‘changing learning attitude,’ ‘enhancing the relationship with a professor and other students.’ The significant finding of this research is that all the participants give value more than just a class. Conclusions The conclusion to be drawn here is that it is necessary to manage the classes with small-sized groups, thereby creating a comfortable learning environment. Also, adopting a teaching method in a pliable way is the key to building a learner-centered co-curricular class.
