국문 초록

본 연구는 OECD 국가에서 이민이 국내 노동시장 성과에 미친 영향을 분석한다. 본 연구는 국가단위 패널 데이터를 사용하여 이민 충격으로 야기되는 지역 간 노동력의 이동의 영향을 통제한다. 또한 본 연구는 국가 고유효과를 통제하고 도구변수 추정방법을 사용하여 이민자의 이주 지역선택과그 지역의 노동시장 상황 사이의 내생성 문제를 완화한다. 주요 추정 결과에 따르면, 이민자의 국내유입이 증가할수록 내국인과 이미 정착한 이민자의 실업률은 증가하고 고용률은 감소한다. 하지만 노동시장 성과에 대한 부정적인 영향은 내국인보다 이미 정착한 이민자에게서 더 크게 나타난다. 또한 이민자의 증가는 상대적으로 저 숙련 근로자의 실업률 (고용률)을 더 많이 증가 (감소)시킨다. 이러한 결과들은 이민이 노동시장 성과에 미치는 단기219적인 영향이 부정적이라는 선행 연구의 결과와 235부합한다.

영문 초록

This paper investigates the effects of immigration on domestic labor market performance in OECD economies. The main contribution of the paper is to mitigate the influence of internal migration responses to immigration for estimating its effects on domestic labor market performance. We also employ both fixed effects and IV estimation methods to mitigate endogeneity problems arisen in the regressions of labor market performance on immigration. We find that immigration raises (reduces) unemployment rates (employment population ratios) of natives as well as of foreign-born population. Second, immigration affects more negatively the labor market performance of foreign-born population than that of natives. Third, immigration affects more negatively the labor market performance of unskilled than skilled workers.
