미국 중학교 수학과 교육과정 분석: 확률과 통계를 중심으로

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 미국의 중학교 교육과정을 분석하여 우리나라의 2015 개정 교육과정과 비교해 교육과정 개발과 연구에 있어서 시사점을 얻고자 함이다. 이를 위해 2010년 공포된 미국의 CCSSM에서 특히 확률과 통계 영역의 전체적인 내용과 특성을 분석하였다. 또한 교육과정이 반영된 교과서를 확인하기 위하여 미국의 개혁 지향 교과서와 전통적인 교과서 총 두 종에서 확률과 통계 영역을 살펴보았다. 교육과정과 교과서를 통하여 미국 중학교 수학과 교육과정에서 확률과 통계 부분은 우리나라 에서 배우지 않는 분산도, 모집단, 샘플링 등의 내용이 포함되어 있고 배워야 할 개념보다는 배우는 이유를 명확히 하고 실생활에 사용되는 개념을 중심으로 교과서에 문제가 제시되어 있음을 확인하였다.

영문 초록

This study aimed to investigate middle school mathematics curriculum of USA and to discuss ideas for curriculum research and development. For this study, we analyzed mathematics curriculum of USA, Common Core State Standards for Mathematics(CCSSM) announced in 2010. In order to investigate the curriculum of USA, we analyzed the area of Probability and Statistics in the curriculum document, CCSSM, and looked over two kinds of textbooks such as a standard-based mathematics textbook and a traditional mathematics textbook in USA. As results, we found different document systems, contents, and description methods in the curriculum document and textbooks.
