국문 초록

빌헬름 플리트너의 교육학은 다른 학자들과는 달리 성인교육까지를 포괄한 평생교육학으로 요약될 수 있다. 플리트너는 인간의 전 생애적 성장을 지원하는 것을 통하여 교육이론을 구성하였다. 플리트너는 당시 시대적 상황을 극복할 수 있는 성인교육사상을 그의 인간학적 고찰에 기초하여 발전시켰다. 그는 인간과 교육의 관계에 대해 네 가지 관점, 생물학적 관점, 정신적-사회적 관점, 정신적인 각성의 관점, 개인적 관점으로 설명하였고 사회-역사적인 환경과 개인의 주관적 여건 속에서 개인이 어떻게 성장해나가는지를 해석학적-프래그머티즘적 교육학으로 설명하고 있다. 플리트너는 개인과 환경과의 상호작용을 성인교육방법으로 설명하고 있다. 외부적인 요구에 맞도록 학습해가는 외연적 방법과 학습자의 내부적 요구에 맞도록 학습시키는 내포적 방법이 변증법적 상호작용을 통해 사회의 문제를 해결하고 개인의 주관적인 성장을 이끌어낸다고 보았다. 이러한 측면에서 플리트너의 교수방법은 개인의 생애사적 성찰성에 바탕을 둔 일상생활양식인 문화적 학습으로서 이해되어야 한다.

영문 초록

Unlike other scholars, pedagogy by W. Flitner can be summarized as lifelong education covering the adult education. Flitner constituted his educational theory by supporting individual growth throughout one's life. He developed educational ideas for adults based on his humanistic observation in order to overcome the situation of the times. He explained the relationship between humans and education with four different standpoints, including biological, spiritual-social, spiritual awakening, and personal standpoints. He also explained how an individual grows up in the socio-historical environment and the subjective situations with the hermeneutic pragmatism. Flitner explained the interaction between an individual and the environment with methods of adult education. It was believed that the denotative method that satisfies the external needs and the connotative method that satisfies the internal needs could solve the social problems and lead the individual growth through a dialectical interaction. Against this backdrop, it is necessary that Flitner's educational method should be understood as a cultural learning about daily life based on the individual self-reflection.
