In this paper, I have tried to observe mutual relation between Kong-An Pa and Lee Duk Moo"s literary theory. Kong-An Pa was a unique literary group in late Ming-China, they had pursued the vivid personality of writer and the originality of style in writing prose and poem. Lee Duk Moo was also a noted intellectual came out on the literary view of Kong-An Pa in the late Chosun.
They, Lee Duk Moo and Kong-An Pa, agreed to criticized Ue-Go(擬古). Criticism by them about Ue-Go-Moon Pa(擬古文派) pointed out that prose and poem works written by imitation had not acquired the truth of art. But Lee Duk Moo, contrary to Kong-An Pa, had not totally refused writing skill and literary custom derived from the tradition of past, which had preserved authority in Confucian literati in those times. As a result, Lee Duk Moo sought the literal eclectic theory that was not only emphasizing creativity but also accommodating partly literal reactionism.
The value of literature suggested by Lee Duk Moo was Middle Path(中道) that was not inclined to express strong sentiment and anger in works. Middle Path(中道) was common Confucian value to have mind control in every day life. In this sense, novel as literary grace was rejected by Lee Duk Moo. But, Kong-An Pa recognized the value of novels, praised the beauty of style and realities of expression in them. On the principal of creation, Lee Duk Moo and Kong-An Pa had similar opinion to emphasize the truth(眞) and the emotion(情) in the process of writing. Kong-An Pa relatively supported more freely expression of human feelings. On the other hand, Lee Duk Moo asserted the necessity of moral self to keep away dissolution in writing and every day life. He could come to the his own literal theory in the end by accepting the view of Kong-An Pa.
