국문 초록

본 연구는 교육과정을 개발하는 일이 지니는 성격과 가치를 탐색해 본 것이다. 흔히 교육과정을 개발하는 일을 일정한 절차에 따라 특정한 수단과 방법들을 처방하고 효과를 보고자 하는 매우 기능적인 일이라고 생각하는 경향이 강하다. 따라서 교육과정 개발을 기능적이고 절차적인 방법적 과제를 수행하는 성격으로 인식한다. 이러한 인식에 기반하여 교육과정 개발의 가치를 특정 문제를 해결하는 수단적이고 효과적인 데에서 찾는다. 그러나 본 연구에서는 이러한 성격과 가치를 비판적으로 검토하여 교육과정 개발의 가치를 도덕적 과업으로 재개념화하고, 그 기초 위에 학습자들의 인지적 역량을 구성하는 중요한 일이라고 규정한다. 이 목적을 달성하기 위하여 문헌분석과 철학적 논의를 진행하였으며, 그 결과 교육과정 개발은 자유 해방 교육과정을 추구해야 하며, 그 방안으로 두 가지 방안을 제안하였다. 나아가서 숙의적 교육과정 전통을 잘 계승할 필요가 있다.

영문 초록

This study explores the nature and value of curriculum development. There is a strong tendency to think of curriculum development as a highly functional task that involves prescribing certain means and methods according to a certain procedure and trying to make them work. Therefore, curriculum development is perceived as the character of carrying out functional, procedural, and methodological tasks. Based on this stance, the value of curriculum development is found in being instrumental and effective in solving specific problems. However, this study critically examines these characteristics and values, reconceptualizes the value of curriculum development as a moral enterprise, and defines it as an important task to construct learners' cognitive competencies on that basis. In order to achieve this goal, literature analysis and philosophical discussions were conducted, and as a result, it was proposed that curriculum development should pursue a liberal curriculum for all, and that two options were proposed. Furthermore, it is necessary to inherit the tradition of deliberative curricula well.
