국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 대학생이 대학생활 과정에서 경험하는 고민을 학문 계열별로 탐색하는 것이다. 이를 위해 P대학교에서 2023학년도 1학기부터 2024학년도 2학기까지 운영된 또래 멘토링 프로그램에서 수집된 상담일지 1,207건을 분석 자료로 활용하였다. 연구 방법으로는 Braun과 Clarke(2006)의 주제분석(thematic analysis)을 적용하여 의미 단위를 코딩하고 범주화하는 과정을 거쳤다. 분석 결과, 모든 계열에서 학업 수행과 관련된 고민이 공통적으로 확인되었으나, 계열별로 뚜렷한 차이가 드러났다. 인문사회계열은 국제 경험과 비교과 활동을 통한 경쟁력 확보에, 자연과학계열은 대학원 진학과 학업·연구 적응에, 공학계열은 취업 준비와 실무 역량 강화에 집중하는 양상이 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 대학생들의 고민이 단순한 개인적 특성에 국한되지 않고, 각 계열의 학문 구조, 교육과정 운영, 사회적 진로 환경과 밀접하게 연관되어 있음을 보여준다. 기존 연구가 설문조사 등 정량적 접근에 치중한 한계를 지닌 것과 달리, 본 연구는 멘토링 일지라는 질적 자료를 활용하여 학생들의 실제 경험을 계열별 맥락에서 구체적으로 드러냈다. 이는 대학생 고민 연구의 폭을 확장했을 뿐만 아니라, 학생 지원 체계 설계에서 공통적 지원과 계열별 맞춤형 전략이 동시에 필요함을 강조한다. 따라서 본 연구는 향후 대학 현장에서 학업 지원, 진로 상담, 정서적 안정 지원을 아우르는 종합적 정책 마련에 기초 자료를 제공할 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to explore the concerns that undergraduate university students experience in their university life, focusing on the differences across academic disciplines. A total of 1,207 mentoring logs were collected from a peer mentoring program operated at P University between the first semester of 2023 and the second semester of 2024 and analyzed as the primary data. Thematic analysis (Braun & Clarke, 2006) was employed to code and categorize meaningful units and to derive key themes. The analysis revealed that while academic performance-related concerns were commonly observed across all disciplines, distinct patterns emerged in each. Students in the humanities and social sciences emphasized international experiences and extracurricular activities to strengthen their competitiveness. Students in the natural sciences were primarily concerned with graduate school admission and adapting to research-oriented academic environments, while students in engineering focused on employment preparation and the development of practical skills. These findings suggest that students' concerns are not limited to individual psychological traits but are closely connected to structural factors such as curriculum design, academic culture, and labor market demands. Unlike prior studies that largely relied on quantitative surveys, this study used qualitative data from mentoring logs, thereby capturing the authentic voices of students in diverse disciplinary contexts. The results expand the scope of research on university student concerns and highlight the need for institutional support strategies that combine universal academic assistance with discipline-specific approaches. This study therefore provides meaningful implications for developing student support systems that integrate academic guidance, career counseling, and emotional support, tailored to both common and discipline-specific needs.
