외국인 유학생 맞춤형 교양교육과정 설계를 위한 기초학업역량 진단 도구 개발 - 예비조사 및 내용타당도 검증

국문 초록

본 연구는 급증하는 외국인 유학생을 위한 교양교육과정 설계의 실증적 근거를 마련하기 위해, 이들의 기초학업역량을 진단하는 도구를 개발하고 그 내용 타당도와 예비적 신뢰도를 검증하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 선행 연구 분석을 통해 초기 도구를 구성하고, 수도권 소재 A대학의 외국인 유학생 50명을 대상으로 예비조사를 실시하여 문항 분석, 내적 일관성 신뢰도, 직전 학기 학업 성적(GPA) 을 준거로 한 준거 타당도를 검토하였다. 이어 유학생 교육 전문가 3인의 델파이 조사를 통해 내용 타당도(CVI)를 검증하였다. 예비조사 결과 자기주도 학습이 직전 학기 학업 성취를 유의하게 설명하였 고, 학업 환경 적응은 유의한 정적 상관을 보였으나, 심리적 안정과 학업 환경 적응 영역의 신뢰도가 취약하고 일부 문항이 부적 상관을 보여 도구의 개선이 요구되었다. 이를 반영한 전문가 델파이 결과, 예비판 4개 역량 영역의 정의 및 하위요인에 대한 척도 수준 내용 타당도 지수(S-CVI/Ave)는 .96으로 우수하였으며, 전문가 의견에 따라 학문적 언어 역량과 인지 역량을 독립 영역으로 신설하고 생성형 AI 활용⋅정보 윤리 문항을 추가하여, 6개 역량 영역 54문항의 다국어(한국어⋅영어⋅중국어⋅베트남 어) 진단 도구를 예비적으로 구성하였다. 본 도구는 어학 지원에 머물러 온 유학생 교양교육을 역량 결손 중심의 맞춤형 교양교육과정으로 전환하는 실증적 기초 자료로 활용될 수 있다. 본 연구는 척도 개발의 표준 절차(Boateng et al., 2018)에 따라 문항 생성과 내용타당도 검증, 예비조사를 통한 척도 구성 단계를 수행하였으며, 확장된 6개 영역 54문항에 대한 통합적 신뢰도 및 구성타당도 검증은 대규모 본조사를 통한 척도 평가 단계로 이어갈 것을 제언한다.

영문 초록

This study aimed to develop a tool for diagnosing the basic academic competency of international students, providing an empirical basis for designing a general education curriculum tailored to the rapidly growing international student population. An initial instrument was constructed through a literature review, and a preliminary survey was conducted with 50 international students at a metropolitan-area university to examine item characteristics, internal consistency reliability, and criterion validity against prior-semester academic grades (GPA). Content validity was then verified through a Delphi survey of three experts in international student education. In the preliminary survey, self-directed learning emerged as a significant explanatory variable for prior-semester academic achievement, and academic-environment adaptation showed a significant positive correlation, but the psychological stability and academic-environment adaptation domains showed weak reliability, and several items showed negative item-total correlations, indicating a need for refinement. In the expert Delphi, the scale-level content validity index (S-CVI/Ave) for the domain definitions and subfactors of the preliminary four-domain version was .96; academic language competency and cognitive competency were established as independent domains, and items on generative-AI use and information ethics were added, yielding a preliminary multilingual (Korean, English, Chinese, Vietnamese) instrument of 54 items across six competency domains. This tool can serve as an empirical basis for transforming international-student general education from language support toward a competency-based curriculum. This study completed the item-generation, content-validity, and scale-construction phases of the standard scale-development sequence (Boateng et al., 2018); construct validity for the full instrument is proposed for a subsequent large-scale survey.
