국문 초록

본 연구는 마그레브 지역에서 나타나는 서브사하라 비정규이주민의 이동 양상과 패턴을 분석한다. 이를 위해 모로코, 튀니지, 리비아를 포함하는 광의의 마그레브 개념을 사용하였으며, 국제기구의 통계 자료와 보고서를 중심으로 마그레브 비정규이주의 구조적 특성을 파악하고자 하였다. 본 연구는 비정규이주를 단순한 출발과 도착의 선형적 이동으로 보지 않고, 유입과 체류, 재이동이 반복적으로 연결되는 순환 구조로 이해한다. 특히 유럽 국경 통제의 외부화와 해상 감시 강화 속에서 마그레브는 더 이상 단순한 경유지가 아니라 장기 체류와 반복적 재이동이 이루어지는 기착 공간으로 변화하고 있다. 본 연구는 이러한 이동 구조 분석을 통해 현대 국제이주 체제 속에서 마그레브가 차지하는 역할과 서브사하라 비정규이주의 구조적 흐름을 살펴보고자 한다.

영문 초록

This study defines the Maghreb in a broader sense to include Morocco, Tunisia, and Libya, and examines the movement patterns of Sub-Saharan irregular migrants in the region. Drawing primarily on statistical data and reports from international organizations, the study aims to identify the structural characteristics of irregular migration in the Maghreb. It argues that migration should not be understood as a linear process of departure and arrival, but rather as a cyclical structure in which inflow, stay, and re-migration are repeatedly interconnected. In the context of the externalization of European border controls and strengthened maritime surveillance, the Maghreb has increasingly transformed from a simple transit zone into a space of prolonged stay and repeated re-migration. By analyzing these dynamics, this study seeks to contribute to a broader understanding of the Maghreb’s role within the contemporary international migration system and the structural flow of Sub-Saharan irregular migration.
