지방대 출신 교원의 수도권 대학 진출: 임용 구조와 네트워크 분석

국문 초록

본 연구는 한국의 수도권 소재 대학에 임용된 지방대 출신의 교원 현황과 네트워크를 분석한 실증 연구이다. 구체적으로는 지방대 출신 교원의 수도권 대학 진출이라는 관점에서 임용 구조를 종합적으로 분석하였다. 연구방법으로는 서울 소재 일반대 15개와 인천, 경기도 소재의 대학 8개를 선정하여 총 23개 대학을 대상으로 연구를 진행하였다. 2023년 1월 5일부터 2월 11일까지 지방대 출신 교원의 비율과 근무 현황을 조사했으며, 총 89명의 교원을 연구대상으로 최종 선정하였다. 분석 결과는 다음과 같다. 지방대 출신 교원은 주로 중하위권 수도권 대학을 중심으로 이루어지는 것을 확인했으며 박사 학위를 지방대에서 받은 경우는 드물었다. STERGM 분석 결과, 지방대와 수도권 소재 대학간의 임용 네트워크가 시간이 지날수록 점차 확장되는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 지방대 출신 교원의 임용이 과거에 비교해서 상대적으로 증가함을 의미한다. 그럼에도 불구하고, 이러한 패턴은 아직은 제한적인 수준에 머물러 있었다. 본 연구는 학문사회계층의 지방대 출신 교원의 수도권 교원 임용 실태를 실증적으로 분석했다는 점에서 의의가 있다. 또한 다양성 관점에서 국내 교원 임용에 대한 기초 자료로 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

영문 초록

This study examines the recruitment patterns and professional networks of faculty members from non-metropolitan universities who have been appointed to institutions in Korea's metropolitan region. The research analyzed faculty recruitment data from 23 universities, comprising 15 institutions in Seoul and 8 in Incheon/Gyeonggi-do regions, collected between January and February 2023. Through comprehensive analysis of alma mater distribution and employment status, 89 faculty members were identified as research subjects. The findings revealed that faculty members from non-metropolitan universities were predominantly concentrated in mid to lower-tier metropolitan institutions, with doctoral degree holders from non-metropolitan universities being particularly underrepresented. STERGM analysis demonstrated a gradual expansion of recruitment networks between metropolitan and non-metropolitan universities over time, though the overall level of integration remains limited. This empirical analysis contributes significantly to understanding faculty recruitment dynamics through a social class perspective and provides valuable insights for developing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives in Korean higher education.
