국문 초록

연구목적: 성인기 전환 과정에서 지체중복장애인 당사자, 부모, 교사의 자기결정 경험을 조사하고 이를 토대로성인기 전환 과정에서 지체중복장애인의 자기결정 기회 확대를 위한 지원방안을 고찰하였다. 연구방법: 본 연구를 위해 서울 지역 지체중복장애인 특수학교를 졸업한지 5년 미만인 지체중복장애인 당사자4명, 그들의 성인기 전환을 지원한 부모 4명, 교사 3명을 대상으로 면담을 진행하였으며, 모든 면담은 전사한후 김영천(2016)의 포괄적 분석 절차를 이용하여 분석하였다. 연구결과: 성인기 전환 시기 지체중복장애인의 자기결정에 대한 인식과 현실의 차이, 성인기 전환 시기 지체중복장애인의 자기결정 보장을 위한 지원 요구를 포함한 2개의 대주제가 도출되었다. 대주제 별로 2개, 그리고 4 개의 소주제가 도출되었다. 결론 및 논의: 연구 참여자들은 지체중복장애인의 자기결정의 중요성을 인식하고 있었으나 실제 성인기 전환 지체중복장애인의 자기결정 경험은 제한적인 것으로 나타났다. 이와 관련하여 지체중복장애인의 성인기 전환 시기자기결정 기회 확대를 위하여 개인, 주변인, 학교, 사회와 관련된 다양한 지원 요구가 확인되었다.

영문 초록

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the self-determination experiences and support needs of individuals with physical and multiple disabilities during the transition to adulthood. Method: Individual interviews were conducted with four individuals with physical and multiple disabilities who graduated from schools less than five years ago, four parents, and three teachers who have supported their transition to adulthood. Results: Two main themes and six sub-themes emerged. The main themes are (a) the difference between perception and reality regarding self-determination of individuals with physical and multiple disabilities during the transition to adulthood and (b) support needs for ensuring self-determination during the transition to adulthood for individuals with physical and multiple disabilities. Conclusion: Individuals with physical and multiple disabilities had limited experiences of self-determination during the transition to adulthood. To address this issue, diverse support needs have been identified from individuals, caregivers, schools, and society.
